Hey, Girl

Back in the day, women wanted everyone to “accept what they look like”.

They wanted to be not called ‘fat’, ‘disgusting’ or ‘unattractive’.

They wanted to be called ‘beautiful’.

Fast forward to 2015, I recently read a post that went something on the lines of “Don’t call me beautiful. I have my flaws and I accept them.”

Um.
Last I checked, it wasn’t a crime to call somebody beautiful.

I get it.

You don’t need anybody else’s validation.

And I think it’s great that that’s how you feel.

But think about it.

Being called beautiful by somebody else isn’t all that bad, is it?

If somebody tells you that you’re flawless, it’s not literary. (WHO is flawless, anyway? Even Chrissy Teigen has stretch marks.)

But that’s the thing isn’t it? You’re beautiful despite your flaws.

The scars, the stretch marks, the things you don’t like about yourself- all of them is what makes you, YOU.

And they’re exactly the things that make you beautiful as hell.

When people compliment you, despite your obvious weight, they’re not trying to be pretentious. They’re being nice.

And we need more of those people in the world. NOT hypocrites, but people who care enough to lend a couple of good words.

Admit it, compliments make our day. And leave us feeling good about ourselves.

Instead of talking about somebody’s weirdness, discuss all the good things.

Help them embrace themselves.

I am not a very good person, I’ll be honest.

But every day, I strive to be better than the day before.

I try to look for the good in people, and remove my focus from the bad.

I try to be positive, rather than dwelling on the negative.

I’d rather be a realist, but a little optimism never hurt anyone. In fact, it helps.

Queen Adele herself, recently made a statement regarding people and their obsession with her weight. And quite frankly, I loved it! This was what she had to say-

I do have body image problems, for sure, but I don’t let them rule my life at all. And there’s bigger issues going on in the world than how I might feel about myself and stuff like that.

YAAAAAAAASSSS.
